Surprisingly Not considered vermin as the name would commonly be interpreted. Donkey rats are brown rodents the size of small dogs, with long legs and short, furry tails.

I’ve heard of wizards using them as familiars but I don’t quite understand why they would.

Our adventuring company encountered them first in The Crow of Magnimar.
